La
Paz Waterfall Garden. |
|
Templo
Waterfall:
Offers
a unique canyon like experience as it flows into
a tight rock gorge. Accessible from the Trail of
Falls, it is the furthest up river and well worth
the hike. From the viewing platform you can feel
the power of the fall as the spray blasts against
the rock face next to you.
|
|
Magia
Blanca Fall:
Is
the largest of the falls. We have provided four
viewing platforms for the total waterfall experience.
The first platform comes from a few meters above.
Be amazed as the water tumbles over the edge and
forms a frothy spray, creating what is this magnificent
fall. From above to under the fall, the second platform
is 20 feet beneath. You can reach out and feel the
power of the spray as the water falls right next
to you.
The third platform offers a terrific photo
opportunity of the entire fall, while the fourth
"wet" platform imparts a potent sense
of the height and power of the fall.

Encantada
and Escondida Falls:
At
the next viewing platform you will be greeted by
not one but two waterfalls, the Encantada and Escondida
Falls. The larger of the two, the Encantada, flows
from the Rio La Paz while the smaller comes from
the Rio La Paz Grande. The two unite in a rock gorge
pool and create the powerful rushing water that
becomes the spectacular and famous La Paz Waterfall.
On each of the platforms, we have provided
seating and umbrellas for your ultimate viewing
pleasure.

Largest
Enclosed Butterfly Observatory in the World:
The
Butterfly Observatory is the largest in the world.
The enclosed structure allows butterflies to soar
freely while guests walk amid the natural habitat.
An on-site laboratory is a breeding ground for the
countless fluttering species. It offers an interesting
perspective into the stages of development of the
most colorful species in Costa Rica. Each guest
will have the opportunity to release a newly emerged
butterfly.

Hummingbird
Garden:
Our
hummingbird garden attracts more species than any
other in Costa Rica. Over 16 different species of
hummingbirds call Waterfall Gardens home. Watching
the interaction among the various birds, whether
they are fighting or playing, is truly a treat.
A number of the birds have become very tame and
will even land on a feeder while someone is holding
it. During the early morning and late afternoon
so many hummingbirds converge on the feeder area
it sounds and feels like they are swarming. While
you are watching the birds you can relax under an
umbrella at one of our mosaic tile tables and listen
to the sound of our garden water feature.

Isla
Tortuga
|
|

|
Tortuga is an exquisitely handsome island off the
southern Nicoya Coast, about two kilometers (one
and a quarter miles) from Curú and within
easy reach of Puntarenas. It’s wonderful white
sand beach is framed by towering coconut palms and
warm turquoise waters, perfect for swimming. For
the last 20 years, Tortuga has been operated as
a private nature reserve by the Cubero family of
San José. The Cubero’s have replanted and
reintroduced plant species that had disappeared
from the island. They’v developed a self-guided
nature trail looping around the island that includes
a climb to the island’s highest point at 172m (570
ft) and a canopy tour ride in leather harness attached
to a cable.
|
|
Tortuga harbors many species
of rare and endangered plants including orchids,
bromeliads, and tropical hard woods such us the
indio desnudo tree and the madrono with its striking
white flowers. The island also hosts
several animal species including the agouti, as
well as providing nesting sights for frigate birds
and pelicans.

Inbioparque
|
|
INBioparque
is an exceptional eco-touristic park where you will
be able to live an experience of a lifetime!. By
taking our guided tour you will come into contact
with the most representative of Costa Rica's ecosystems:
the Central Valley Forest, the Humid Forest, the
tropical Dry Forest, and the Wetland. At INBIOPARQUE
you may find approximately 51 bird species, 583
native plant species, as well as mammals and reptiles!
We are located 15 minutes away from downtown
San Jose, in the quaint town of Santo Domingo of
Heredia.
The
history of its creation:
INBioparque
was developed as an answer to the increasing demand
for information by visitors. They wanted to know
about the concept and importance of conserving biodiversity
and our everyday work. INBioparque is part of our
effort in transmitting this information. Some
years ago, the idea of creating a collection of rare
trees was born. This is how many of the trees that
we have now arrived. A process of discussion and
idea evolution about creating a botanical garden
or collection of plants began. Soon, the idea was
transformed into something new: several exhibit
halls and groupings of plants from the Humid, Central
Valley, and Dry Forests. The project grew with the
construction of a small wetland, where we have a
viewer for appreciation of underwater life. Now,
INBioparque has grown and includes a butterfly garden.
